Rodions Kurucs recalled from G League by Nets

Rodions Kurucs is back with the Brooklyn Nets for their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Whatever the root cause is — it could be his issues off the court or something as simple as the inability to get into a rhythm — Rodions Kurucs hasn’t been able to provide the Brooklyn Nets with much on the court to start the 2019-20 season.

As a result, the forward has spent a deal of time with Brooklyn’s G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets. In his three games with Long Island this season, Kurucs is averaging 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Ahead of Brooklyn’s matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, the Nets announced they had recalled Kurucs from Long Island.

In his nine games with Brooklyn this season, Kurucs is averaging 2.3 points and 2.4 rebounds a game after averaging 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last year. He’s also only averaging 10.9 minutes per game, which is almost half the amount of time he would play on a nightly basis for the Nets during the 2018-19 season (20.5).
