The Golden State Warriors have been the walking wounded this year, but on Tuesday, we got some news that may suggest that one return is nigh.
Kevon Looney, who has been out of the lineup since the second game of the season, will be headed down to the G League to get some reps. The news was first reported by The Athletic.
By virtue of his being diagnosed with a “neuropathic condition” that contributed to his consistent hamstring issues, Looney has been absent for more than three weeks. Although no date has been mentioned with respect to a probable return to the lineup, this at least appears to be a step in the right direction.

Looney’s return would obviously be welcomed, as the Warriors have struggled, to say the least. Entering play on November 19 with a 2-12 record, the team will be without D’Angelo Russell was at least the next two weeks, as the young guard mends from a sprained right thumb.
Things have been so bad for the Warriors on the injury front that there have actually been games this season where not one member of last season’s NBA Finals contender took the floor.
Looney, who has emerged as an important part of Steve Kerr’s rotation, would obviously be welcomed back with open arms.
