Miami Heat undrafted guard Kendrick Nunn has emerged as perhaps one of the top rookies this season and is on pace to have quite a first year in the NBA.
Nunn is averaging 17.8 points, 3.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 12 games this season for the Heat. Nunn has recorded at least 20 points in each of his last three outings, including a 22-point effort on Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Nunn currently ranks second in scoring average among all rookies, first in field goals made (85) and 3-pointers made (28). As it turns out, if he can continue at his current pace, he’d break several franchise rookie records, as pointed out by Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald.
- Scoring average: 16.2 points (Dwyane Wade)
- Total field goals made: 470 (Glen Rice)
- 3-pointers: 119 (Mario Chalmers)
- Free-throw percentage: 82.4 (Caron Butler)
The Heat rookie has not yet missed a game this season and figures to have a strong chance at breaking several records if he can continue at his current pace. The emergence of Nunn, and fellow rookie Tyler Herro, is a huge reason why the Heat are second in the Eastern Conference and the group is showing no signs of slowing down.
Miami returns to action Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
