The Washington Redskins expect Adrian Peterson to be on the field this weekend against the New York Jets despite his appearance on the injury report.
No shock there.
Throughout most of his career, Peterson has battled through a litany of injuries despite his violent running style. This season hasn’t been any exception, as he’s hardly missed time besides being inactive via coach’s choice early in the season.
As a result, Peterson has 491 yards and a score on a 4.3 average so far this year. As interim coach Bill Callahan told the media, his ability to overcome the rigors of the game is rare:
Callahan to the podium. He praised Adrian Peterson’s ability to overcome injuries both physically and mentally.
Says he’s seen AP deal with a variety of injuries here in Washington, but somehow they never set him back… “He’s rare, he’s one of a kind.”

The Redskins will need more of that Sunday. Peterson will have Derrius Guice in the backfield to help out, but the veteran figures to remain the workhorse.
