Caris LeVert’s thumb surgery successful

The Brooklyn Nets have yet to establish a timetable for Caris LeVert’s return.

The Brooklyn Nets will be without Caris LeVert for some time following his procedure on Thursday. Surgery was performed on his right thumb to repair damaged ligaments.

The surgery was conducted by Dr. Michelle Carlson and was deemed a success. Though, the Nets have not announced a timeline for LeVert.

The signing of free agent guard Iman Shumpert indicates LeVert could be out for an extended period of time. Brooklyn signed Shumpert on Thursday following the news of the ligament damage in LeVert’s thumb.

Shumpert is taking the added 16th spot on the roster, which the Nets have as a result of Wilson Chandler’s suspension for violating the NBA’s drug policy. The only way the Nets can keep Shumpert past December 14 — the day before Chandler returns — is by waiving or trading someone else.
