Colin Kaepernick will have a chance to impress interested NFL teams this weekend at a private workout organized by the league, and according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, at least two QB-needy clubs have “definitive interest” in the former 49ers QB.
Smith reported on First Take that multiple teams called the league office inquiring about Kaepernick. Smith also said that at least 10 team owners don’t want Kaepernick to return to the NFL.
“There’s two teams that were definitively interested in him that called the league office about him, that’s No. 1.
No. 2, I’m hearing there’s at least 10 owners, if not more, that want nothing to do with him. But they’re divided, because there’s about 10 to 15 who do believe he should be back in the league – which is why the league religiously stands up and states ‘we have not banished him from the league, teams have a right to bring him on. We haven’t prohibited them from bringing him on board.’”

According to an ESPN report, the NFL sent a memo to all 32 teams to announce that it would be holding a workout for Kaepernick on Saturday in Atlanta. Teams that are unable to attend – and it’s likely that there will be many absences, on the eve of a Week 11 Sunday – will be provided video. Kaepernick will complete on-field work and an interview.
Kaepernick’s camp reportedly only learned about the upcoming workout on Tuesday, just four days before it is scheduled to happen. Kaepernick, who has repeatedly stated that he has been continually working out as he waits for an opportunity to return, tweeted that he’s looking forward to seeing team executives.

The workout will take place at the Falcons’ practice facility, according to the AJC. The event will be closed to the public and to the media, so the only reviews of Kaepernick’s performance will come from the teams and the league itself.
According to ESPN, Kaepernick’s camp asked the league to push the workout back to a Tuesday, which would be more convenient for any interested teams, or to a later Saturday, but the league rejected the request.
