Tyrese Maxey continued a string of strong performances on Thursday after producing 15 points to help the Philadelphia 76ers to a 125-108 victory over the Miami Heat, completing a two-game home sweep over the defending Eastern Conference champions.
The Sixers initially turned to Maxey heavily starting on Saturday when the team was down to just seven available players due to injuries and COVID-19 issues. Philadelphia got most of its roster back on Thursday but opted to keep Maxey in the starting lineup because of his offensive versatility.
The outing by Maxey was his fifth consecutive game scoring in double figures as he is averaging 20.2 points over that span. His recent streak includes a career-high 39 points versus the Denver Nuggets when he was first thrust into the starting lineup.

The 21st overall pick helped his chances of carving out a larger role the most over the past week and his recent play will likely see him enjoy increased minutes moving forward.
Maxey likely won’t start once Seth Curry returns from the health and safety protocols but he has proven that he can be counted on in different situations should the need arise.
