75 days till the Cardinals’ season opener against the Bills

Rookie tackle Christian Jones now wears No. 75. The last impactful No. 75 was guard Alex Boone in 2017.

The NFL offseason continues and we continue to count down the days until the Arizona Cardinals open their season. Training camp has been announced, giving fans something to look forward to in the next month.

But the Cardinals’ season opener on the road against the Buffalo Bills on September 8 is in 75 days.

No. 75 on the Cardinals’ roster currently is rookie offensive lineman Christian Jones, drafted this year in the fifth round out of Texas.

He has not yet made an impact and will have a battle to even make the roster this year.

It has been a while since No. 75 has been worn by a player of any sort of impact. Cardinals fans will  remember both Leonard Davis and Levi Brown. Both were longtime starters and made an impact, although they were viewed disappointingly.

But the last player to make some impact with No. 75 was Alex Boone, who played one season for the Cardinals in 2017. He played in 14 games, starting 13 at guard. He was best known for his six seasons as a starter for the San Francisco 49ers but finished his career playing a season each for the Minnesota Vikings, the Cardinals and then one game for the Seattle Seahawks in 2020.

The countdown will continue tomorrow.
