The NFL and NFLPA continue to try and hammer out a path back to the football field. With training camp set to kick off next week for some teams, the path took a bit of a hit with the revelation that 72 active NFL players have tested positive for COVID-19 in recent testing.
The NFLPA published the positive tests on its website. The players who tested positive are not made public, and there is no breakdown by team. As of July 17th, no Detroit Lions players have acknowledged publicly they have tested positive for COVID-19 at any point.
In addition, no details on the severity of infection like hospitalization rate or asymptomatic rate were provided.
Players and owners are expected to have a conference call on Friday to progress towards an agreement on how to operate the league in the coronavirus pandemic.
