Much like in 2017 when Mike Vrabel took over as the defensive coordinator, Crennel is going to stay on the Texans’ coaching staff in an advisory role. In that season, in which the Texans finished last in the AFC South at 4-12, Crennel held the title of assistant head coach. It is unclear yet what title Crennel will officially have in 2020. It is well known that Crennel is a member of the staff that is in coach Bill O’Brien’s inner circle, someone he leans on for advice.
