The NFL has announced its “My Cause My Cleats” campaign for the 2019 season.
For the fourth-straight year, the NFL will allow players to wear custom-painted cleats bringing awareness to a charitable cause. These cleats will later be auctioned off at NFL.com/Auction in order to raise money for the cause selected by each player.
“The positive influence of NFL players extends far beyond the field, a time of year, or the game itself,” Commissioner Goodell said in a recent press release. “What makes ‘My Cause My Cleats’ so special, is that it provides players with an opportunity to bring attention to – and raise awareness and money for – the causes that are closest to their hearts. The fact that more than half of the players in the league are participating this year underscores the tremendous passion they have for giving back.”
Several Kansas City Chiefs players will take part in the event this year. Here’s the list of the seven players who are set to wear cleats during the Week 14 game:
Player | Cause/Organization |
Patrick Mahomes | 15 and the Mahomies |
Tyrann Mathieu | The Tyrann Mathieu Foundation |
LeSean McCoy | Shades of greatness Inc, The LeSean McCoy foundation |
Derrick Nnadi | United Way of South Hampton Roads – Virginia Beach Tragedy Fund |
Mitchell Schwartz | Fuel Up To Play 60 |
Greg Senat | Hope for Haiti |
Daniel Sorensen | Parkinson’s Foundation |
The event begins with an awareness campaign that kicks off on Thanksgiving day, with several network television advertisements. The festivities will continue with an unboxing day across the league. Finally, all players will wear their custom-painted cleats during their Week 14 games. For the Chiefs, that game will occur at Foxboro in an important AFC matchup against the New England Patriots.
