7 49ers starters miss 1st Week 15 practice

The #49ers list of absences from Wednesday’s practice is long.

The injury bug has bitten the 49ers in the latter portion of the 2023 season and seven starters were among a slew of players missing from Wednesday’s practice to kick off Week 15 preparations.

Among the starters missing were defensive lineman Arik Armstead (foot, knee), right guard Spencer Burford (knee), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (hip, ankle), defensive lineman Javon Hargrave (hamstring) and cornerback Charvarius Ward (groin).

Left tackle Trent Williams also missed the session for his typical veteran rest day. CB Ambry Thomas was absent because of a personal matter.

It’s unclear whether any of the players who missed Wednesday due to injury will be available for Sunday’s game in Arizona. Thursday’s practice report should offer a little bit better information to project their availability.

Some good news for the 49ers includes running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) and cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. (hamstring) both hitting the practice field.

Mitchell was limited after missing last week with a knee issue that cropped up after the team’s Week 13 win in Philadelphia. Luter also missed the game against Seattle at Levi’s Stadium because of a hamstring injury he sustained against the Eagles.
