As Yogi Berra reportedly said, It’s deja vu all over again.
The Washington Commanders JUST changed their name a year ago, and thank goodness they did. But there hasn’t been a ton of enthusiasm about that name, either.
And now that the NFL franchise has new owners in Josh Harris, Magic Johnson and others, there’s some buzz — per ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. — that “there’s a reasonable chance the team will be rebranded.”
When could it happen? Not so fast, as he points out. They can’t just ditch their name and uniforms with under a couple of months to go until the 2023 season.
But if that does happen? There are a ton of suggestions for what it should be:
Yes it’s accurate that I believe there’s a reasonable chance the team will be rebranded. But it won’t happen until after this season, at the earliest.
