“Ariel is awake,” cousin Tiffany Verhulst wrote Monday on the GoFundMe page collecting donations for medical expenses.

A spokesman for the Kansas City police department provided more of a cautionary word Tuesday:

Ariel suffered life-threatening injuries in the Feb. 4 accident near Arrowhead Stadium. The Gofundme post was written Monday evening.

A 4-year-old child was also injured in the crash, suffering a broken nose and concussion.

As of this writing, the Gofundme is approaching $500,000 to help the mother of three with expenses as she helps Ariel recuperate and is unable to work.

Reid, the son of Chiefs coach Andy Reid, admitted to police he had two or three drinks and had taken Adderall.
