Georgia has the nation’s No. 7 ranked class in the 2023 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports’ Team Rankings.
Leading the way in that class is 5-star cornerback AJ Harris, who committed to Georgia in April.
Harris (Phenix City, Alabama) has always been a five-star prospect, but he recently saw both his rating and ranking increase in 247Sports’ updated Top247 2023 recruiting rankings.
Harris’ rating bumped up from a 95 to a 96. He also went from being ranked as the No. 30 player in the nation to the No. 27 overall player.
Harris committed to Georgia over Florida and Clemson. At 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, he has the potential to play as a freshman at Georgia and his versatility could allow him to play either safety or cornerback at the next level.
Harris previously played football for Glenwood High School in Phenix City, Alabama for the first few years of his high school career. He will play his senior season with Central High School, which is also located in Phenix City, Alabama, right on the Georgia/Alabama border.
Harris also plays running back and shows good balance through contact. The five-star defensive back prospect lived up to his lofty billing at The Opening and was quite disruptive at the event.
