5-star Alabama basketball target sets official commitment date

The five-star will decide between Alabama and four other programs.

One of the nation’s top uncommitted basketball prospects, Jasper Johnson is reportedly set to announce a commitment sometime next week between five different collegiate programs.

Those include the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, and North Carolina Tar Heels, a list that the talented prospect narrowed to five back in July.

Johnson, a Kentucky native, is considered as the nation’s No. 10 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, as well as the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia where he plays for Overtime Elite. A five-star prospect, Johnson is also ranked as the No. 2 overall shooting guard in the entire 2025 class.

With a decision now set to reportedly come next week, a commitment from Johnson would mark the first for Alabama and head coach Nate Oats in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Should this potentially happen as well, then this would no doubt be a stellar starting point to this cycle for the Crimson Tide after finishing with one of the nation’s top 2024 classes.
