The NFL offseason moves ever so closer to the start of the 2024 regular season as we hit midweek on a Wednesday. The Arizona Cardinals, who open the season on the road against the Buffalo Bills on September 8, will take the field at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York in 53 days.
No. 53 on the Arizona roster currently is linebacker Trevor Nowaske, signed last season. He has a shot at making the 53-man roster, but he has not yet made an impact.
The last player to be impactful and wear No. 53 was a few years ago. It was center A.Q. Shipley.
Shipley was with the Cardinals from 2015-2019 and was the starting center from 2016-2019, although he missed the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL.
He was a leader. And despite his short arms for an offensive lineman, his play kept more physically talented players off the field.
He appeared in 60 games for the Cardinals, starting 51 of them.
We will be back tomorrow for more counting down.
