The final practices have wrapped up in Mobile, Alabama. The All-Star game will be played on Saturday, but most of the NFL scouts and decision-makers have already packed up and left for the week.
There were several players who stood out during the final practice of the week. Here are the five biggest winners from Day 3 at the Senior Bowl:
1. RB Brian Robinson, Alabama
Robinson had the play of the day when he stoned Georgia linebacker Channing Tindall in a pass-blocking drill. He also showed quickness and agility in the team drills. He isn’t overly flashy, but he is an all-around back that should play early in his NFL career.
2. WR Khalil Shakir, Boise State
The best receiver on Thursday was Shakir and it wasn’t close. He made a number of impressive grabs, including scoring two touchdowns in the red zone period. Shakir doesn’t have elite size or speed, but he knows how to get open. He should be a Day 1 starter in the slot in the NFL.
3. LT Trevon Penning, Northern Iowa
Penning struggled with power in the first two days of practice but adjusted by Day 3. We started to see more of his mean streak as he irritated defenders all day as he played through the whistle. Penning needs some refinement, but there are enough traits for him to warrant a first-round selection.
4. LB Troy Andersen, Montana State
Andersen just made the move to linebacker in 2021, but you wouldn’t know it. He was always around the ball in college and did the same on Thursday. Even in coverage, he found a way to be near the ball and showed some good anticipation for where the ball would be thrown.
Andersen is a great athlete who holds Montana State’s all-time record for rushing yards in a season. Plus, he was named the All-Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. He’s quite the player.
5. CB Roger McCreary, Auburn
McCreary did not win the weigh-ins as his arms measured in under 30 inches, but he’s been outstanding all week. He has been the best cornerback in Mobile and it hasn’t been close.
McCreary made an incredible pass breakup on a red zone play from the two-yard line as he anticipated the out route and made the deflection. He should be one of the highest-drafted players from Mobile this year.
