5 thoughts about the fifth practice of Bengals training camp

Takeaways and thoughts from the latest day of Bengals training camp.

The Cincinnati Bengals had a quiet day at the office on Monday.

With pads going on the day after, there weren’t many major developments. Some thoughts:

  1. Joe Burrow was a half-day, as advertised. Still sharp and impressive, but like everything else, no need to push it with pads going on the next day.
  2. It was another “hold-in” day for Ja’Marr Chase.
  3. We can make that distinction now that head coach Zac Taylor has confirmed that DE Sam Hubbard and DE Trey Hendrickson are day-to-day with injuries. The latter wants a new contract too, but it’s an injury holding him out.
  4. While seeing everyone in pads on Tuesday will be nice, the biggest focal point might be OT Amaris Mims. With OT Trent Brown still out, the first-rounder has a chance to show what he can do and perhaps really make a push for the starting job.
  5. WR Charlie Jones has had a quiet camp compared to someone like WR Andrei Iosivas. But he had what was probably the play of the day in 11s:
