Higgins was a basketball star
That trope about big-play wideouts and tight ends being former basketball stars is true with Higgins.
From Tom Kreager of the Nashville Tennessean:
“Higgins excelled on the football field and basketball court during his high school career. He was named the 2015 and 2016 Tennessee Titans Class 5A Mr. Football Back of the Year. He was also a Mr. Basketball finalist in 2016 after averaging 15 points and 6.6 rebounds his junior season.”
Higgins had some D1 offers for basketball but chose football. Let’s just say it worked out.
