Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has emerged this season as the frontrunner to win the Rookie of the Year award and his play has been nothing short of spectacular at times.
From going toe-to-toe with Kyrie Irving in just his third game, in which he scored 30 points, to standing up to James Harden later in the year, Morant has shown that he isn’t scared of anyone.
Morant has had quite a few incredible moments this season. Between posterizing the opposition or faking them out with his handles, Morant has filled up the highlight reel.
With the NBA at a standstill due to the coronavirus pandemic, Rookie Wire decided to take a look at some of the most disrespectful moments from Morant this season.
When he nearly ended the career of Kevin Love
The moment when Morant almost posterized Kevin Love happened on Dec. 20. Morant took flight from nearly the free-throw line, gathered himself, and with only Love in his way, rose up for the dunk attempt.
His dunk was nearly reminiscent to that of Vince Carter in the 2000 Olympics when he jumped over 7-foot-2 center Frederic Weis. Of course, Love is only listed at 6-foot-8 but it was almost as impactful.
Love took the near assassination well and had some fun with it afterward. His reaction to the dunk on Twitter was about as perfect as could be.
Ja almost ended my professional career with this dunk…that kid is something special 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 https://t.co/5SxCItAMba

Love and the Cavaliers finished with the win over the Grizzlies as he finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds and, most importantly, his NBA career still intact.
