The NFL hasn’t yet said what the 2021 salary cap will be, but it’s expected to drop from the 2020 figure of $198.2 million. It could go as low as $175 million, which if it does, the Rams will be more $32 million over the cap.
That’s before the Jared Goff-Matthew Stafford trade becomes official, so the rams will still have plenty of work to do. Whatever the salary cap is, every team must be under it by March 17.
While it might seem like the Rams are in a hole too deep to dig out of, that’s not the case. In fact, they can clear $50 million in cap space with five moves – and create even more space with a handful of other decisions.
