3. K Dan Bailey
Now two full seasons removed from Dan Bailey’s still stunning release by Dallas, never was he more appreciated than by those who weathered the Brett Maher Experience in 2019. It’s hard to rationalize the decision the team made, especially after the Cowboys stubbornly stuck by Maher and his history-making kicks, despite shanking the seemingly manageable attempts.
Since joining Minnesota in 2018, including playoffs, Bailey has hit 51 of 60 field goal attempts (85%). Over the same stretch, Maher made just 73.5% of his tries (50 of 68). To his credit, Maher was prefect on extra points, while Bailey missed five. Still, that fact likely does little to endear Maher in the minds of Dallas fans, who still pine for Dan “Split ‘Em” Bailey.
