Which players were most missed due to injury in 2019, and in what ways did their absence effect the Cowboys?

A soon-to-be free agent, 2019 was not the year Brown was hoping for. He missed seven games due to injury, and only played 18 defensive snaps after Week 6. He was eventually placed on IR following the team’s Week 11 victory over the Lions.

The sixth-round pick had been a surprising role player since joining the team in 2016, earning and not relinquishing playing time on what seemed to be an up-and-coming Dallas defense. In addition to being a sure tackler, Brown was also good for a few splash plays a season.

This year was the first in which Brown didn’t record at least one interception and also force a fumble. For a defense that ranked just 21st in turnover percentage, those plays would’ve certainly been welcomed. And given the struggles of CB Chibode Awuzie at times in 2019, it’s fair to wonder if the Cowboys would’ve tried Brown on the outside, had he been available.
