One wide receiver surprise apparently wasn’t enough for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks. They broke out the spatulas and flipped another one.
On Wednesday afternoon, four-star wide receive Ryan Pellum announced he would flip his commitment from the USC Trojans to the Ducks. On the 247Sports composite, Pellum is the No. 99 overall player and the No. 19 WR in the nation. He gives a big boost to the Ducks’ 2024 class, which is ranked inside the top 10.
Pellum is the second wide receiver to flip to the Ducks on Wednesday. Former Ohio State commit Jeremiah McClellan announced earlier in the day that he was signing with the Ducks.

The Ducks have been recruiting Pellum for a long time, and the Millikan High School star from Long Beach, California, was also fond of the Ducks during that process. Ultimately the efforts by Lanning and wide receivers coach Junior Adams were enough to persuade the blue-chip pass-catcher to flip to the Ducks.
Pellum is also the nephew of Don Pellum, a former Oregon coach who spent 23 seasons in Eugene, primarily as a linebackers coach.
It’s likely the quarterback situations at both schools played a factor as well. With Dillon Gabriel transferring from Oklahoma to Oregon, the Ducks are set with one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy in 2024 under center. USC is searching for its next QB; Caleb Williams is graduating this offseason.
It is unclear how much of a role Pellum will have early in his career because the Ducks have a lot of talent at the top of the depth chart. But he will certainly have an opportunity to show what he can do.
