There’s not expected to be a ton of competition between the 49ers and Commanders on Sunday in Washington DC. Depending on the sportsbook San Francisco is favored by as many as 13.5 points. After a slew of primetime and marquee matchups, the 49ers will take a step back on the TV slate for their Week 17 game vs. Washington.
506 Sports has the broadcast map which helps illustrate the vast disparity between how many people got the 49ers-Eagles Week 13 matchup on TV, and how many will get this week’s 49ers game in DC.
People living in the yellow portion of the map will get the San Francisco-Washington game on TV:
Fans through Northern California and part of the Midwest will get the contest, as well as the Washington DC area. Outside of that the Fox matchups are mostly localized to the teams’ markets. CBS has a couple of the marquee matchups with the Ravens-Dolphins and Bengals-Chiefs headlining the Week 17 slate on that channel.
If Washington was better or in the playoff hunt there’s a chance the 49ers and Commanders would’ve seen more widespread viewership availability. Alas, a game where San Francisco is favored by nearly two touchdowns wasn’t going to get a ton of nationwide love.
