49ers top Roman Reigns’ list of Super Bowl contenders

During an appearance on First Take, the WWE star listed the 49ers as his top Super Bowl contender.

Before he suits up for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match at Summer Slam in Detroit on Saturday evening, WWE superstar Roman Reigns stopped by the First Take desk for an appearance alongside Stephen A. Smith at ESPN

Reigns, a noted 49ers fan, found a way to drop a Super Bowl prediction for his favorite NFL squad while sharing the stage with Smith.

During his spot on First Take, “The Tribal Chief” revealed his top-five Super Bowl contenders for the upcoming NFL season. Holding the top spot on Reigns’ list was the San Francisco 49ers. During his Super Bowl prediction, Reigns credited the 49ers’ defense.

49ers all the way. It starts with the defense. If you can stop the run, you put the offense in a long third-down situation, and that’s a formula for success every single time. The defense is always there, we run the ball, we have weapons, it’s really just about figuring out the quarterback position, but we have a lot of talent there. I’m really expecting huge things — Super Bowl. Flirting with it for a while now, and I think this is the year.

Following the Niners, defending Super Bowl champs, the Kansas City Chiefs were listed at No. 2, with the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 3. The Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills rounded out Reigns’ top five.

Prior to joining the WWE, Reigns played defensive line in the ACC with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

WWE’s Summer Slam is set for Saturday at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. Reigns will meet Jey Uso in the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match.
