The 49ers added to their receiving corps late in this year’s draft. They selected Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell 253rd overall.
Bell met with the 49ers as part of the pre-draft process. His measurables don’t jump off the page. He’s a shade under 6-0 and weighed in at 191 pounds. He ran a 4.54 40 with a 1.54 10-yard split per the Athletic. Bell started 31 of his 47 games and caught 145 balls for 2,269 yards and 9 touchdowns.
Perhaps the most impressive thing for Bell is how he bounced back last year following a torn ACL that ended his 2021 campaign after just one game. He posted career-bests in catches (62), receiving yards (889) and touchdowns (4) last season.
What could get Bell on the field right away though is his tenacity as a blocker and tough playing style. He has the ability to stretch the field vertically, but he’s more likely going to find success in short to intermediate areas as a pro.
