49ers rule out TE Jordan Reed, CB Emmanuel Moseley

The 49ers lost two more players to injury in Week 3 vs. the Giants.

The 49ers have ruled out two more players for Sunday’s game. Tight end Jordan Reed won’t return with knee and ankle injuries according to Pam Oliver on the Fox TV broadcast. Emmanuel Moseley, who was originally questionable to return, has now been ruled out with a concussion.

Reed went down in the first quarter after turning his ankle while trying to make a catch in the back of the end zone. He left briefly but returned in the second quarter. He caught a short pass, got tackled, then limped off the field. Reed appeared to be signaling to trainers that his knee was hurt.

That’s a huge loss for a 49ers offense that’s already been blasted by injuries. It’s also a tough blow for Reed who’s career has been marred by various injury problems.

He exited Sunday’s game with two catches for 23 yards. The 49ers are down to Ross Dwelley and rookie sixth-round pick Charlie Woerner at tight end.

Moseley got whacked by safety Jaquiski Tartt on a run by Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. He exited the game after the hit and didn’t return. Dontae Johnson took over for him.
