49ers roster moves: Rookie CB Darrell Luter Jr. activated

The #49ers had a small surprise in their roster moves before Week 11:

The 49ers on Saturday announced a pair of roster moves ahead of their Week 11 matchup against the Buccaneers.

Rookie cornerback Darrell Luter Jr.  was activated off the PUP list, and rookie offensive lineman Corey Luciano was elevated from the practice squad. Luter’s activation comes on the heels of the team placing OL Nick Zakelj on IR to open a roster spot.

Luter was a fifth-round selection in this year’s draft who missed all of training camp and the preseason with a knee injury he suffered late in the offseason program. His activation comes as a surprise since he missed so much time as a rookie, but he showed enough the last two weeks to give the team some optimism that he can help them this season.

CB Samuel Womack and defensive end Robert Beal Jr. remain on IR.

Luciano is an undrafted rookie from Washington who was with the team the entire offseason and preseason. He was brought up on a standard elevation so he’ll revert to the practice squad after Sunday’s game. The 49ers brought him up ahead of fellow UDFA Ilm Manning and veteran Jesse Davis.
