49ers practice report: Good news as 2 key players return to action

Lots of good news for the #49ers on their Thursday practice participation report. Read here:

The 49ers practice report for Thursday contained a slew of good news. Two players who missed Wednesday’s session due to injury were back in action Thursday.

Both linebacker Dre Greenlaw and cornerback Charvarius Ward were absent Wednesday, but limited Thursday. Greenlaw is working through an ankle issue, while Ward deals with a heel injury.

Their upgraded status is a good indicator that they’re trending the right direction ahead of a big Week 5 matchup against the Cowboys.

Neither wide receiver Deebo Samuel nor WR Jauan Jennings suffered setbacks and were limited again Thursday after limited Wednesday practices. They’re also trending the right direction.

The only players who remain out are offensive lineman Jon Feliciano and running back Elijah Mitchell. Feliciano is in concussion protocol. Mitchell is recovering from a knee injury he suffered in practice before Week 4.

RB Christian McCaffrey and LT Trent Williams both returned Thursday. They both had rest days Wednesday.
