49ers injury updates: CB Emmanuel Moseley to miss a few weeks with high ankle sprain

The #49ers won’t have CB Emmanuel Moseley for a few weeks because of a high ankle sprain.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday provided injury updates for San Francisco coming out of their 30-23 loss to the Seahawks.

Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley, who left the game in the second quarter, was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain that will sideline him for a few weeks, per Shanahan. If the club believes he’ll miss three or more games it stands to reason they’d put him on injured reserve to open a roster spot.

Moseley was having a really nice season before his injury. He has eight pass breakups while allowing only one touchdown according to Pro Football Focus, and quarterbacks have completed just 29 of 51 balls thrown his way.

With Moseley out, rookie fifth-round pick Deommodore Lenoir was the first cornerback off the bench, but he had a rough outing and was replaced by veteran Dontae Johnson. It stands to reason Johnson would start Sunday in Cincinnati across from Josh Norman. Rookie third-round pick Ambry Thomas is the other healthy outside CB on the roster.
