49ers’ injury situation not improving as playoff-clinching game looms

The 49ers have major injury issues heading into Week 15.

The 49ers’ injury outlook is only looking more bleak as their Week 15 game against the Falcons approaches. Thursday’s practice report didn’t change much from Wednesday’s, which already painted a dreary picture of the 49ers’ health going into a crucial game.

The only change to the practice report was tight end Garrett Celek moving from limited to out. He was eventually placed on Injured Reserve with a back injury.

San Francisco can clinch a playoff spot with a win over a struggling Falcons team. The problem is the 49ers will be operating at about half strength on defense barring a turnaround from one of their injured starters. None of the five starters who missed Wednesday’s session saw an improved status Thursday, pointing strongly to all five of them missing Sunday’s contest.

Friday will provide a clearer picture of the injury report for Sunday, but the lack of movement Thursday doesn’t bode well for the 49ers.
