The 49ers have had plenty of good injury luck through five weeks this season, but their second Week 6 practice participation report came with some good and bad news.
The bad news is linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who sat out Wednesday’s practice for a veteran rest day, was out again Thursday with a hamstring injury. It’s the first time the hamstring has popped up on the injury report for Greenlaw, who’s been dealing with an ankle issue over the last couple weeks.
His sudden absence Thursday with a hamstring injury doesn’t bode well for his chances to play Sunday, but Friday’s practice report should give us a better clue as to the extent of his ailment.
The good news is running back Elijah Mitchell returned to practice for the first time since bruising his knee ahead of Week 4. He’s been out the last two weeks, but his participation in a limited fashion is a good sign that he’s trending the right direction.
Left guard Aaron Banks was also limited for the second consecutive day as he works through a shoulder injury he sustained in the Week 5 win over the Cowboys.
