Super Bowl XLVII (2012)
The only blemish on the 49ers’ Super Bowl resume. In the Battle of Coaching Brothers (the Harbaughs), John’s Ravens outlasted Jim’s 49ers 34-31. Joe Flacco was MVP. It’s a game that will be remembered not just as the Niners’ only Super Bowl loss, but also for the half-hour power outage at the Superdome early in the third quarter. The blackout sure seemed to help the 49ers stop the Ravens momentum as they rallied to within five and the Niners had a chance to go ahead late in the fourth quarter but Baltimore stopped San Francisco on 4th-and-goal.
