The 49ers won’t have to wait long to avenge their loss in Super Bowl LIV if the 2021 Super Bowl odds on BetMGM are any indication.
San Francisco is the top NFC team at +900, and they have the third-best odds overall behind the Chiefs (+650) and Ravens (+700). If the season plays out in the order BetMGM has the teams listed, the 49ers and Chiefs would square off in next year’s Super Bowl.
Here are the odds for the top 10 teams:
Kansas City Chiefs +650
Baltimore Ravens +700
San Francisco 49ers +900
New Orleans Saints +1200
New England Patriots +1400
Green Bay Packers +1800
Philadelphia Eagles +1800
Pittsburgh Steelers +1800
Seattle Seahawks +1900
Dallas Cowboys +2000
Minnesota Vikings +2000
These odds aren’t substitutes for a prediction, but more an indicator of how the books feel about each team immediately after the season. It’s easy to envision a pretty dramatic change in the odds after free agency and the draft.
It’s also worth noting San Francisco opened last season at +4000 to win it all, and they came within a couple plays of pulling it off.
On the other hand, the 49ers checking in at +900 are an indicator of how far they’ve come in a year. This time a year ago they were an afterthought for a Super Bowl, and now they’re expected to be right back in contention.
John Lynch and the 49ers’ front office has a tumultuous offseason ahead of them with a ton of key players due for contract extensions or hitting free agency. How San Francisco handles this offseason will have a lot to do with whether they get back to the Super Bowl in 2021.
