49ers DL Arik Armstead on bouncing back after bye week: ‘All the answers are in our building’

Arik Armstead believes the #49ers have all the pieces for a 2nd-half turnaround.

The 49ers couldn’t have stumbled much harder into their bye week. They dropped three consecutive games before the break after starting the season 5-0. While there were plenty of things that went wrong for San Francisco over the last three weeks, defensive lineman Arik Armstead believes the team is primed for a second-half run.

Armstead in an episode of ‘Third and Long’ for the Tidal League laid out the components for his club to get back to its winning ways when they get back to action in Week 10.

“We need to rest, refocus, regroup,” Armstead said. “Get our players healthy. Get Deebo (Samuel) back, get Trent (Williams) back. Get back to full strength. And I believe we’re gonna go on a run. Not much to talk about, that’s gonna be with actions, but that’s my belief. And I know we got the guys to do it. All the answers are in our building, and we’re gonna find ’em.”

It certainly stands to reason the 49ers won’t need to look far to find cures for what ailed them in losses to the Browns, Vikings and Bengals.

The defense is largely made up of the pieces that produced the NFL’s No. 1 unit last season. Now they’ve added DE Chase Young in a trade with the Commanders which only bolsters an already talented defensive group.

If San Francisco’s offense can cut back on turnovers, they should start scoring again at a better clip than 17 points per game. Samuel and Williams’ returns will also help.

Like Armstead said, the team still has to prove it found the answers, but the solutions all appear to be attainable after the bye.
