49ers depth chart: 2020 CB battle has long-term implications

The 49ers have some short and long-term questions to iron out at cornerback this season. Their depth chart at that spot isn’t deep.

Williams is quietly one of the top nickel corners in the NFL. 2019 wasn’t an out-of-nowhere season either. According to Pro Football Focus, “the only two qualifying cornerbacks with a better overall grade in the slot than Williams since 2014 are Chris Harris Jr. and Desmond King II.” Williams is also on the final year of his deal, but he’s one of the team’s most consistently good players and he’s all but guaranteed a starting job for 2020.
