Cornerback Davontae Harris wasn’t gone long from the 49ers’ facility. Just days after putting him on waivers, San Francisco re-signed Harris to their practice squad.
Harris will provide a necessary depth piece at cornerback who’s been around the team since the preseason. He’d be able to step in right away should an injury occur and the 49ers need to quickly add another defensive back to their roster.
San Francisco claimed Harris off waivers from Baltimore after their preseason opener. He made the initial roster but went on IR with a hamstring injury. The 49ers released him almost immediately after activating him off IR early in their week off.
Harris was a fifth-round pick of the Bengals in 2018. He also spent time with the Broncos and Ravens. In 30 games he has four pass breakups, a forced fumble and 50 tackles.
