There are now 6 weeks and counting until the UCLA Bruins start their 2024 season. The Bruins will start in Hawaii on August 31st. Until then, we are counting down the days, and it’s 42 to go. Happy Jackie Robinson Day!
With no 42 currently on the UCLA Bruins roster, we thought we would throw back the clock 42 years to the 1982 UCLA Bruins football team. Let’s look at that team and see if anyone can remember this blast from the past.
The 1982 UCLA Bruins finished the season as Rose Bowl Champions. They beat Michigan 24-14 and finished the season 10-1-1. They were 5-1-1 in Pac 10 play This was the 7th year for head coach Terry Donahue.
Tom Ramsey was the signal caller and tossed for just 3,000 yards. Danny Andrews was the top running back and Cormac Carney led the team in receiving yards.
The Bruins lone loss came at Husky Stadium in Seattle, where they fell 10-7 in front of nearly 59,000 fans The tie came at the Rose Bowl, as it was 24-24 against Arizona.
The Bruins won the Rose Bowl game against Michigan 24-14 that season.

UCLA finished that season ranked fifth in the Associated Press poll, and also in the Coaches Poll.
