41 days until Penn State football 2021 season opener

With 41 days to go until Penn State football returns, we look back at former Nittany Lion Parker Cothren.

We are 41 days from Penn State football! Today we will continue our series of former players that have repped the numbers at Penn State.

Today, we will talk about Parker Cothren, who was a three-star prospect in the class of 2013. As a recruit, he didn’t have too many offers coming out of high school. However, Cothren was certainly looked upon by Power Five schools like Auburn, Purdue and Penn State. He was a top 50 player in his home state of Alabama and a top 100 offensive tackle in the nation.

He played through the 2018 season as a defensive tackle. His last year was where we saw the most production. He finished with 27 total tackles both years and 1.5 sacks. His senior season, Cothren earned honorable mention and All-Big Ten honors. He was also awarded the Reid-Robinson award for the team’s outstanding defensive lineman.

Cothren was signed undrafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2018 draft.

The current number 41 is freshman linebacker Kobe King, who hopes to make a name for himself during his time at Penn State. He was ranked the number 14 prospect in the state of Michigan and the number 80 prospect in the region.

King was a four-year letterman and two-time team captain at his high school in Michigan. He currently sits in the third spot on the depth chart and is projected to play weak-side linebacker, currently lead by sophomore Brandon Smith.

We are inching our way closer to the most exciting time of the year Nittany Lion fans! 41 days and counting!
