4 more Cardinals players, including RB James Conner, land on COVID list

The Arizona Cardinals added four players, including James Conner, to the COVID list. All are on it because of contact with someone with the virus.

The Arizona Cardinals are dealing with COVID-19 issues again. After receiver Andy Isabella landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, four more Cardinals players find themselves out of action for the near future.

According to the NFL transaction list, running back James Conner, tight end Darrell Daniels, defensive tackle Leki Fotu and safety/special teamer Charles Washington on the COVID list.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, though, all four are on the list because of high-risk close contact with someone who contracted the virus.

Isabella, who is on the COVID list for the second time in training camp, contracted the virus, according to the NFL transaction report — he and one other player in the league landed on the list and it noted both were for positive tests.

It is important to note that fully vaccinated players are not required to miss time on the COVID list with close contact.

This obviously means that all four of these players are either unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated, which they can’t be until two weeks after the final dose of the vaccine.

While the team lagged in vaccination rate all offseason, after they reported for camp, the team went over 90%, which means it is quite possible that these current issues won’t be a problem once the season starts because all the players who go the first shot in the last week of July will be fully vaccinated by Week 1.

Unfortunately, these four players will be unavailable for the team’s preseason opener Friday night.
