4 defensive players to watch as Oklahoma takes on TCU

Oklahoma is in need of a bounce back defensive performance and to get it, these four Sooners are vital against TCU.

NT Perrion Winfrey

Winfrey was a little banged up heading into the Texas game due to some minor injuries from their previous game against Kansas State.

In the first half against Texas, Winfrey saw quite a few double teams. Controlling Winfrey up the middle helped keep quarterback Casey Thompson upright and when doing so he was able to find guys like Xavier Worthy and Joshua Moore for big plays.

Winfrey was far more disruptive on the second half and was a key component to OU’s defensive turnaround.

TCU is a pretty balanced team and will try to keep Oklahoma honest with how they attack them. Forcing a team to become one dimensional is a much easier recipe for success. Bottling up Evans and Miller won’t be easy but if Perrion Winfrey plays the way we know he’s capable of, the Sooners will gladly take their chances with Max Duggan beating them.
