Penn State is looking to continue adding players to their 2024 recruiting class. It’s been a busy spring window, courting both transfer targets and future recruits.
[autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] has mentioned the concerns about depth he has for the wide receiver position heading into this season. While recruits from the 2024 class obviously can’t impact the upcoming season, having a full positional depth chart should allow them to avoid this situation going forward.
Out of the 14 commitments in the class, none of the players are wide receivers. Not a great sign after mentioning the current depth issues.
However, the Nittany Lions got some good news after three-star wide receiver Mekhai White included them in his top eight schools.
White is a 6’2″ 180 pound prospect from Virginia. He originally set his commitment date for the middle of May, but that timeline was pushed back as he thought more about his recruitment.
Other schools who made his cut were Michigan, Tennessee, Oklahoma, LSU, Arkansas, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

The three-star prospect is ranked as the 82nd best wide receiver in the class of 2024 according to On3’s industry rankings. 247Sports has him higher in their rankings than the other recruiting services, ranking him as the number 34 wide receiver prospect and the sixth bets player in Virginia.
When speaking with Jeremy Johnson of On3 about the Nittany Lions, he said, “Penn State has been recruiting me since 8th grade, it’s a great college town.”
It looks like Michigan is the leader in the clubhouse to land White. On his Twitter account, his background is a picture of him in a Michigan jersey from a visit to their campus. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine also has Michigan as the favorites to land him with a 70.1% chance.
White has taken five unofficial visits to Penn State since 2021 and is in the process of scheduling his visit official visit this summer.
