The writing may be on the wall for Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons after he struggled mightily in the 2021 playoffs. He shot just 34.2% from the free-throw line in the postseason and that affected his aggressiveness and effectiveness on the offensive end.
After scoring only five points on four shots in the Game 7 loss to the Atlanta Hawks, the calls to trade Simmons have grown louder and louder. Philadelphia is finally shopping the 24-year-old three-time All-Star, conceding it might be time to bring in a better fit next to Joel Embiid.
The Sixers want an All-Star player in return and that is what they should be asking for. Simmons’ value is not low: He has accomplished so much in this league for being a pretty young player, still. There will be teams out there that would love to trade for Simmons and see if they can get his offensive game on the right track.
If the Sixers can’t get an All-Star player in return, then it would be worth it to keep him in Philadelphia and see if they can help him move on from a tough postseason run.
