No. 3 Star: Key Lawrence, S
Another Tennessee transfer, Key Lawrence, had to sit down and give way to more productive and experienced players like Pat Fields and Delarrin Turner-Yell in 2021. His path to playing time was easier this year with Fields off to Stanford and Turner-Yell in the NFL.
He’s had his struggles, but against Kansas, Lawrence played his best game. He finished with six tackles, one for a loss. He also defended two passes and dropped what should’ve been a sure-fire pick that hit him square in the chest.
The physical tools are there, but the details and consistency have been lacking. On Saturday, he played like a man that was very sure of what he needed to do out there.
