3 stars from Oklahoma’s 33-3 win against Kent State

Who stood out in the Oklahoma Sooners 33-3 win over Kent State and earned one of our 3 stars of the game?

Danny Stutsman, LB

Most around the college football world knew that with Brent Venables in Norman, there would be an uptick in defensive production. A byproduct of that would mean that more defensive stars would need to emerge for those teams to become genuinely elite units.

It looks like that’s precisely what’s starting to happen with sophomore linebacker Danny Stutsman.

The Floridian linebacker is a heat-seeking missile that can do it all. He can rush the passer, drop in coverage, and fill gaps in run defense. Against Kent State, he tallied a career-high 12 tackles (nine of them solo), four tackles for loss, and a sack. He had not recorded more than 0.5 TFLs in a game prior. He topped his previous career high in tackles he had set the week before against UTEP.

He’s becoming the linebacker people envisioned him being with Brent Venables in his ear.
