3 regrettable decisions the Cardinals made in 2019

Going 5-10-1 in 2019, they obviously didn’t make all good moves, but these moves were definitely ones they probably would like to do over.

Cutting Josh Bynes

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Cardinals cut Bynes before free agency, one year into his three-year, $5.75 million contract despite his being one of the team’s most reliable defenders in 2018.

He was coming off injured reserve and the Cardinals would later sign Jordan Hicks to play alongside Haason Reddick, but Reddick ended up struggling, getting benched and moving positions. The Cardinals went with Joe Walker, who played hard but was limited.

Bynes signed with the Baltimore Ravens and played well in his role. He had 45 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups and a sack. He didn’t cost too much to have on the bench as a player to come in and replace Reddick when he struggled.

Imagine having had Hicks and Bynes, two competent linebackers, in the middle of the field together.
