The 2019 LSU team was nothing short of a historical one — arguably the greatest group of players college football has ever seen.
Quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Justin Jefferson were two major parts of that, but Ja’Marr Chase was just as important. In fact, one of the biggest storylines to watch in the coming years will be as to if Chase or Jefferson winds up having the better NFL career because of how phenomenal both of them were at LSU.
Jefferson brings a great skill set to whichever team ends up taking him, and he won’t be on the board long, listed by several analysts as the best available receiver in the draft.
He can make contested catches, runs routes well and his hands could hardly be better.
Before opting out ahead of the 2020 season, Chase had a standout 2019, reeling in 84 catches for 1,780 yards with 20 touchdowns.
Here’s a look at three teams that could serve as ideal landing spots for the ex-Tigers wideout:
1. Cincinnati Bengals.
Chase reunited with Joe Burrow? File this under “things you’d love to see.”
Burrow accomplished a lot in his own right on the 2020 season — and probably would have snagged Rookie of the Year if it wasn’t for a left knee injury against the Washington Football Team that cut his season short in November.
Part of Burrow’s magic at LSU was having the two-headed snake that was Chase and Justin Jefferson within 2019’s receiving corps.
Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins bring some promise in Cincinnati for Burrow, but if the Bengals choose not to address the offensive line in the first round (perhaps they should), Chase should be who they go with.
