3 Players who helped the Oklahoma Sooners knock off Nebraska, 23-16

It wasn’t always pretty, but Oklahoma grabbed the win over Nebraska on Saturday. Here are 3 Sooners who helped them get there.

Nik Bonitto, Edge

It would be a disservice to the rest of OU’s pass rush to suggest that Bonitto was a one-man wrecking crew against the Cornhuksers’ offensive line. Perrion Winfrey took care of business across from the center, and Jalen Redmond dirtied Martinez’s jersey for 1.5 sacks.

But Bonitto did so much more than sack the quarterback. The outside linebacker served as a spy against Martinez for most of the afternoon, preventing the quarterback from bolting every time there was a sliver of unprotected field.

The junior also dropped into pass defense and pretty much delivered a sack on-demand to clinch the win.

The non-conference schedule brought Oklahoma its fair share of growing pains. But these three Sooners must have OU feeling good about its potential as it prepares for Big 12 play.
